Description
Patina® is the highest rated Microsoft® Paint replacement app in the Mac App Store.
Tools and color management in Patina are simple and intuitive. You can use Patina to sketch an idea, draw a diagram, illustrate a concept, or paint a picture. The screen shots here showcase the type of artwork you can do in Patina, but Patina is great for all kinds of other personal and work purposes too. Patina can even be used as a basic image management tool for cropping, rotating, resizing, and saving photos as a different file type. (If you also have a Windows computer, check out our Sizester image resizing app at sizester.com.) As a Mac user accustomed to attractive, well-designed software, you'll appreciate Patina's elegant interface and user-friendly design. If you've used Microsoft Paint before, you'll find that Patina is as simple to use as Paint, if not simpler, and has additional really useful features, including rotation of objects at any angle, transparent image saving, opening/importing of PDF, AI, and PSD files, and more. Unlike most other Paint-like apps that are derivations of an open source program, Patina was designed and built from scratch in the US with great care and attention to detail to be as easy to use as possible. We're confident that you'll find Patina to be the best simple painting, drawing, and sketching app in the Mac App Store. Be sure to check out the tutorial screen in the app (go to the Patina menu, then click on 'Show Tutorial') and the demo video on patinaapp.com (note that the demo video is from an earlier version of the app and doesn't include all current features). Read the FAQs on our support page patinaapp.com/support if you want to learn about advanced features, such as transparent background, controlling rotation in fixed increments, smooth edges (anti-aliasing), smooth resizing (interpolation), alpha color blending, DPI settings, and more. Contact us at [email protected] if you cannot figure out how to do something. Please note that Patina is not a vector app, does not have layers, and does not allow you to manipulate already drawn objects in the same way that you can in a layout app like Pages or in a presentation app like Keynote or PowerPoint. If you have a comment or suggestion, please email us at [email protected]. We greatly value and appreciate your input. Some new features are the direct result of feedback from users. Patina is Retina optimized and works great with all versions of OS X starting with 10.8 (Mountain Lion) and including macOS Sierra. If you like Patina, we really appreciate you letting other Mac users know about the quality of the app by leaving a rating in the Mac App Store for this current version, and writing a review if you have time. We offer Patina at a low price to make it available to as many people as possible, and in order to support our ongoing efforts to continually improve the app, it's really helpful if our users can rate it. Thank you for taking a moment to do that for us! Patina is crafted with care in California and Washington. Quality assurance and testing assistance by CodeFinesse. Copyright © 2015-2017 Atek, Inc. Excellant Basic Drawing Program
The user interface is straight forward and simple. Great entry level drawing and painting app for kids and those with lite drawing needs. Price is awesome! The only thing I could ask for, and be willing to pay more $$ for, is a limited number of layers. No more than five, three being ideal for tracing, color and lineart. Folks just starting out drawing or with lite drawing needs often want to trace or practice on other artwork. If this app had layers, it would be a perfect entry level drawing app on the APP Store. I love the slider for brush size. Comment… I see another reviewer really lowered their review due to lack of UNDO, cmd-z works perfectly on this app, not sure why that was a negative. Some say it is too limited in features, but that is the beauty of an entry level app. New Artist, kids and special needs people really need a basic program. There are plenty of programs to “GROW” into as your art improves. Please don’t evolve this into a PHOTOSHOP clone to where you have to chrage $100 to stay in the game. The people that this is aimed at need an entry level program.
Best Windows Paint replacement for the MAC
Was in the “Windows Only” group from the mid 1980’s until buying my 2011 MacBook Pro. Use Windows 10 at work but Mac at home. Love me Apple.
For years I have been using Microsoft Paint to edit images to illustrate teaching the use of a program or new feature. Became very skilled with Paint to “Photoshop” an amge with the high cost of Photoshop. Have been so sold on Apple I also purchased a Mac Mini. Over time Microsoft decided to embrace the Apple hardware and has done a great job bringing the Office suite to the Mac. The biggest void on my Mac’s have been a Paint replacement. After extensive searching I found Patina. The one tool I always use in Paint was the eye dropper. Problem was I wasn’t finding it. Tried several higher end products but they were over my head for now and did not want to spend months learning. Then I discovered Patina. Would have preferred a demo version but $2.99 wasn’t going to break me. So far I love Patina. It has all the features that I have been using in Paint. Adobe Color Replacement ToolExcellent replacement for Microsoft Paint
I was a regular user of Microsoft Paint for doing mockups and annotations with images. I had gotten quite good at being able to manipulate the images, without having to deal with the complexities of Photoshop, layers, etc. So, when I bought Patina, after reading the positive reviews, I was hoping that it would match my expectations and allow me to do the same work on my Mac. My expectations were met completely with Patina and I have found that I can everything that I could do before and in some areas it is even easier. If you are looking for a Microsoft Paint replacement for the Mac this will not disappoint. To all of those reviewers that are expecting more than a bitmap editor this is not for you. It does what the developers say it does.
